Mohit : Learn. Just Understand every concepts because just learning won’t do it. Then again understand more concepts. Tried to clear my concepts first. With that said this is how I did.
- What is taught in class should be cleared before leaving the class. I made sure whatever was taught to me should be clear to my mind before leaving for home.
- Do solve workbook. Made sure to solve every good question( perhaps all ques) per topic in time so that I am up-to-date and synchronised. This helped me never felt like lagging in class. Because I saw many students were feeling lagged and thus quit even before giving the exam. Like if 4th subject was going on then they were feeling like what was done in 1st subject and sometimes they kept workbook for pending which really costed them. So learn from other mistakes!
- I was very very much sincere to myself. Didn’t waste even an hour of my life during those 8 months. Didn’t talk much except gate topic discussions.
- Watched Dragon ball super every sunday and that was my only source of entertainment.
- Didn’t use FB on phone.
- Used whatsapp for study purpose ( weird right?). I joined some gate group. There many people used to put up their query and I was the one who frequently answered. Many thought it as time waste but for me it was confidence booster as well I was asked many random questions ( different questions of different subjects) and I took it as a challenge to answer with full explanation without looking on internet or my notes.
- I was a final year grad so it was quite difficult for me to manage both gate and college. But it was difficult but not impossible. I had a strong feeling that I will crack gate. Dream of getting a good job was forcing me to do everything for gate. So for next 6 months then, Made easy was my home as I used to spend there 12 hours a day on average. I did go college only 3 times in august. My attendance was very low but my HOD ( Mr. Alok misra) was very supportive and even used to check on my percentage more than me. He believed in me, So I did!
- Don’t trust stackoverflow, etc websites for GATE. I mean don’t trust online resource as they may not be according to GATE standards.
- Make sure you’re all set by December end.
- Do use to get atleast 70+ ( or atleast 65+) in mock tests.
- Do properly sleep before gate. And sleep accordingly. If morning time then sleep early and if evening then sleep late night.
Conclusion:- GATE strategy is simple. Trust what your faculty teaches. You have paid them. They are sincere so you should be sincere as well. Rest your good enough to study. Also don’t go for standard books because that’s a waste of time as GATE faculties teaches you more than what you can learn from standard books for GATE. And I never studied from any standard book for gate.
